Zoom Info Session for Families, Students, & SPS Staff on Tuesday 11/07/2023 at 6 p.m.
An opportunity to learn about Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) for Students ages 14 though 21, made possible by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). These are services provided free to students with IEPs & 504 Plans; attend Zoom meeting on 11/07/2023 for more details, or email kemeyer@xmransheng.com
Spanish & ASL interpretation will be provided.

- Francis from DVR will give an overview of free Pre-ETS (Pre-Employment Transition Services)–>Federal money for workshops & community experiences for students with IEPs & 504 Plans, ages 14-21
- Self-advocacy, paid & unpaid internships, volunteering, job shadows, information interviews, worksite tours, work readiness training, job exploration & counseling on post-secondary education

Virtual Info Night for Families
This free info session is targeted to parents/guardians, and students and school staff are also welcome to attend. DVR will provide an overview of services, including Pre-ETS (Pre-Employment Transition Services):

- DVR services for teens and adults with disabilities (always free, a life-long service to help people with disabilities to find employment)

- Career counseling, independent living services, assistive technology, training and more

Description
This session will provide an opportunity for school personnel to learn more about Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) and engage in proactive solution-focused collaboration to address barriers to providing post-secondary transition services to students with disabilities. The session will include information and specific contacts for schools in ESD 121 to implement community connections with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Participates will also learn about group and individual services offered to all students who experience barriers to employment due to any type of disability.

05/24/2023 – Seattle Skills Center Summer App Now Open
The SPS Skills Center Summer Classes Application is open. Students looking to earn CTE credit over the Summer or to make up a missed Family Health credit from 9th grade year can sign up!
Summer Session will be July 10- August 3, 2023 (Monday-Thursday), with most classes having both remote work (8:30-9:45 am) and then in-person 10:30 am-3:00 pm. There will be no fully-remote Summer Skills Center this year. If interested, please sign up soon because many classes fill up fast.
Classes include Radio Broadcasting, Career Choices & Skilled Trades Sampler, Culinary Arts, Construction, Dental, Engineering, Manufacturing, Maritime, Medical, Music Production & Video Game Animation

04/21/2023 – Last Chance for SPS Summer Internships
As advertised at school, the SPS Career Quest Summer Internship applications will close 04/23/2023
- Paid Summer Internships during July & August 2023
- Schedules will vary depending on Internship matching
- Earn CTE credit
- Must be enrolled in Seattle Public Schools & age 16+ to apply
- Work alongside business & industry supervisors & co-workers to learn on-the-job critical thinking & problem-solving, communication & collaboration and project management skills
- Internships in the Media Arts, Design & Graphics Pathways///Business & Marketing Pathways///Skilled Trades Pathways
- Quick online application; should only take 6 minutes
- **Especially need more interns for the Construction Management at SPS (around the district) and Forma Construction in Shoreline**

11/22/2022 – DVR Group Pre-ETS in SPS
Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Pre-Employment Transition Services (DVR Pre-ETS) are starting up in many SPS high schools.
Your student may have recently brought home a permission form called Pre-Employment Transition Services Information and Consent.
This form allows DVR to work with your student at school in Group Pre-ETS
- DVR Group Pre-ETS are for youth with disabilities ages 14-21
- Someone from DVR will meet with small groups of students at school each week during the school day
- Purpose of Pre-ETS to is prepare eligible students for the world of work
- Some of the services are job exploration counseling, work-based learning experiences & workplace readiness training
- Other services are instruction in self-advocacy & counseling on enrollment in college/training programs after high school/BRIDGES
- Possible paid internships for students age 16+
- If interested please fill out the Pre-ETS Information and Consent form & return it to your student’s case manager

- SPS CCL Newsletter with Volunteer (unpaid) programs for students to gain experience & work toward their 60 hours of Service Learning; especially great for 9th & 10th graders who need to get started. Featuring Seattle Fire Cadet Program, Seattle Police Explorer, Skate Like a Girl, Velocity Dance Center-Young Choreographer’s Club, YWCA Femme2STEM & more
